Greeting (挨拶)

............................................................
Hello. Hi! Good afternoon.

こんにちは。kon nichiwa

slang: Some people say "こん。" or "こんちゃ" on the internet.

polite: ご機嫌よう。(ごきげんよう)gokigen yo This phrase had begun to be used by ladies of the court 680 years ago. Some people still use it.
This is more beautiful phrase, but all most all Japanese don't use, actually. It means "How are you?" and "Please stay healthy until we can meet next time."

You can use ご機嫌よう anytime all day. (Also when we say it instead of Hello, good morning, good evening and good night.)

............................................................

Good evening.

こんばんは。kon banwa

............................................................

Good bye.

さようなら。sayo nara

Casual: さよなら sayonara

............................................................

See you.

Casual: またね。matane (また means again.)

Another expression:

polite: それではまた。soredewa mata It means Then, (let us meet again)
Informal: それじゃ。 is more casual than それでは。

Example sentences:

では、またね。(Well, see you again.)
じゃあ、またね。(well, see you.)
じゃ、またね。or じゃ、また。(Well, see ya.)
それではまた。(Then, see you again.)
それじゃまた。(Then, see you.)

We use それでは。 or それではまた。when we say these phrases apart from our friends and familly member.
